All Yogurt is Good for You... but Freshly-made Yogurt is Best!
When made correctly and eaten fresh you can enjoy the wonderful health benefits that led the French to call yogurt "le lait de la vie eternelle" ..... the milk of eternal life. |

Yogurt is the result of fermentation of milk by lactic cultures,
producing significant increases in available nutrients and large
amounts of "live lactic cultures", resulting in a food of the highest
dietary value.
Scientific studies have shown that, as well as providing calcium
and protein, yogurt consumption can help increase our physical defence
against infectious microbes, and normalise our intestinal flora.
However, to be truly effective, yogurt must contain sufficient numbers of 'live and active' lactic cultures - and the fresher the yogurt, the higher the population of these. Processed yogurt, by its very nature, can never be as good for you as freshly-made. Some yogurts you buy from the supermarket may not even have any live lactic cultures left by the time you consume them.
"The benefits of yogurt
cultures depend on them being alive. As they have a limited lifetime of
days, freshly-made yogurt is the very best for you."
By legal definition, yogurt should contain millions of live
lactic cultures in every spoonful. A spoonful of freshly-made EasiYo
contains billions. You cannot get fresher than EasiYo yogurt because
you have just made it yourself in the EasiYo Yogurt Maker.
1 Gram of freshly-made EasiYo yogurt, after 6 hours in the making process, contains 1 billion live cultures.

Why is Yogurt good for you?
Probiotic Lactic Cultures (probio = beneficial to life), such as l.acidophilus, b.bifidum and l.casei are natural inhabitants of the human intestine, where they perform such important functions as: occupying the surface area of the intestine, absorbing nutrients, secreting lactic acids, secreting anti-microbial compounds (natural antibiotics), and easing the passage of waste. All EASIYO yogurts contain at least one of these probiotic cultures in abundance. EASIYO Bio-life yogurts contain all three.
Yoghurt is nutrient-dense, packed with calcium, vitamins and minerals, for relatively few calories. Lactic cultures such as l.bulgaricus and s.thermophilus are responsible for milk’s coagulation, and help give yoghurt its flavour and aroma. They manufacture large amounts of lactic acid which is useful against unfriendly bacteria (bad bacteria do not develop in an acidic environment). They also produce B-vitamins such as thiamine, riboflavin, niacin and folic acid which is essential for the nervous system.
EasiYo's high calcium content can help keep bones and teeth hard and strong. Each 300gms delivers 50% of the RDA for calcium. Osteoporosis is a serious health problem, and many calcium supplements are not well-absorbed. Through the action of lactic cultures, yoghurt can deliver more available calcium than milk. EasiYo is a good source of calcium for those wth lactose intolerance.
The ability of EasiYo to pre-digest calcium, protein and other nutrients means they are better and more quckly absorbed by your body compared to milk. The lactose (milk sugar) is converted to lactic acid which improces digestion and hinders the growth of harmful bacteria. An estimated 70% of the world's population lack sufficient lactase enzymes to effectively digest milk sugar, often without knowing it. However people with lactose intolerance can usually digest yoghurt without discomfort, since yoghurt breaks down lactose into easily absorbed sugars. This makes it an excellent food for children, the elderly, the ill and any-one who is convalescent.
Essential natural fats are an integral part of a balanced diet, especially for children. The milk fats in EasiYo yogurt contribute to the body's daily needs for energy, and help build and protect vital organs and membranes.
As a low calorie food, it substitutes well for high calorie foods such as cream and mayonnaise, so you can watch your weight without sacrifcing the joys of eating.
Antibotic use can sometimes destroy lactic cultures from the digestive system, leaving it without defence against infections such as yeasts (thrush). Eating plenty of EasiYo freshly made yogurt during and after a course of antibiotics can help maintain "good" bacteria cultures in the gut.
